John A. Bennett, 63 of Greensburg, Indiana, died at his home on Saturday afternoon, January 8, 2011 as a result of a farming accident.
He was born on January 18, 1947 in Decatur County, Indiana. He was the son of
Edward W. and Alta Mae (Palmerton) Bennett. He was a lifelong resident of Decatur County. He graduated from Jackson Township High School in 1964.
He was a grain and live stock farmer and a member of the Waynesburg Christian Church. He had served with the Indiana National Guard.
He married Mary L. Beggs at Greensburg on November 12, 1967 and she survives along his daughter, Susan (Dale) Hamilton, Greensburg; his sons, John E. Bennett and Steve W. Bennett, both of Greensburg; his sister, Carolyn (Richard) Fogg, Greensburg; his brothers, George E. (Kathy) Bennett, Greensburg, and Paul N. (Susan) Bennett, Westport; his grandchildren, Claire, Jack and Kate Hamilton, Greensburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Scott Bennett.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Rev. David Burnett officiating. Burial will take place at Union Presbyterian Cemetery. Friends may call at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home on Tuesday, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Waynesburg Christian Church.
