HISTORY:
Residential: He was a lifelong resident of Westport.
Education: He graduated from Sandcreek High School in 1942.
Military Service: He was a Veteran of the US Army having served his country during WWII.
Occupation: He retired on December 26, 1985 as General Manager of the Otter
Creek
Golf Course in Columbus.
He had owned the Westport Hardware for 27
years and also had worked for
Public Service Indiana at Columbus.
Memberships: Westport United Methodist Church.
Lifetime member of the Otter Creek Golf Course and Greensburg Country Club.
Charter member of the Westport Kiwanis Club having been a member for 58 years.
He was a 60 year member of the Westport American Legion
He was
affiliated with the Indiana Golf Association through Otter Creek and
had received the Clifford E. Wagner Memorial award for sportsmanship and
character on June 27, 1983.
After
retirement, he owned and operated the Bidd’s Golf shop making custom
made golf clubs and working with High School Golf Teams.
Hobbies: He enjoyed teaching and playing golfing, fishing, hunting and skeet and trap shooting.
