Kathleen Fay (Licking) Busse, 88, of Greenwood, Indiana passed away at St.
Francis Hospital at Beech Grove on October 3, 2011 after a brief illness.
Kathleen, the first child of J. Wesley and Ruth (Lomatch) Licking, was born
December 18, 1922, on the family farm near Farmers’ Retreat and Dillsboro, IN.
She has one sibling, Gerald Licking of Zephyrhillis, Florida. Kathleen
graduated from South Dearborn High School. On May 17, 1941 in Dillsboro, she
married Ronald D. Busse and he preceded her in death on December 21, 1991.
She is survived by their five children; Jerry Busse of Trafalgar, Judy (Jim Koontz, M.D.) of Vincennes, Jack (Cindy) Busse of Indianapolis, Richard (Pam) Busse of Greenwood, and James (Cathy) Busse of Hobart; 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Kathleen, Ronald and family lived many years outside Greensburg where she enjoyed many activities: Decatur County Home Demonstration Club; Forest Hill Presbyterian Church and Ladies’ Society and served as a Sunday School Teacher, Elder and Clerk of session. Kathleen was co-founder of Jackson Township School Parent Teacher Association and worked at Jackson School cafeteria as a cook. She also moved to Country Squire Lakes near North Vernon. She soon became a member of the North Vernon Presbyterian Church, a Ladies’ Guild member and loved to sing in the choir. She was very active within the CSL residents’ organization. Kathleen was an avid gardener. Her most precious days were the family functions with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a loving and giving parent.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 6, 2011 with Pastor Mike Bartlett officiating. Burial will follow at the Union Presbyterian Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until time of service at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Kathleen’s family suggests a donation to either the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Association and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
