Royce G. McCullough, 88, of Greensburg, passed away at 2:10 a.m. on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Heritage House Nursing Home at Greensburg. He was born April 29, 1930 in Westport, the son of Stanley and Ethel May (Ponsler) McCullough. He was a lifelong resident of Decatur County. He retired in 1985 from Cummins Engine Company after 38 years of service. He was also farmer, Skelgas distributor, drove trucks for Custom Conveyor, Matlock's Delivery Service and worked at Valeo. He also worked security at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for 35 years and refereed at numerous high school basketball games. His memberships included Greensburg Eagles Lodge # 927, Greensburg Masonic Lodge # 36, Murat Shrine Valley of Indianapolis, North Vernon Order of the Eastern Star # 183 and former member of the Westport Kiwanis Club. He was a member of the Westport Baptist Church and had been a deacon and member of the Union Baptist Church. Royce had been a leader of the Westport Boy Scout Troop and was an avid sports fan. He married Mary Helen Campbell on April 8, 1983 at the Union Baptist Church and she survives, along with his son, Royce Dale (Deanna) McCullough of Westport; daughter, Susan (Marc) Meyerrose of Greensburg; step-daughter, Iva Gasaway of Austin; brothers, Richard (Carol) McCullough of Port Charlotte, Florida and Jerry (Karen) McCullough of Columbus; nine grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; step son, Larry Stamper; sister, Ruthann M. Cross; brothers, Stanley Lee McCullough and Paul McCullough and grandson, Joshua McCullough. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 30, 2018 at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Rev. David Scaggs and Dr. Rob Barlow officiating. Burial will be at the Westport Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Thursday, November 29, 2018 from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A Masonic memorial service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to Shriners Children's Hospital, Our Hospice, Westport Baptist Church Building Fund or Union Baptist Church.
