M. Jack Powers, Sr., 77, of Connersville, passed away at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, May 30, 2022, at his residence. He was born on November 17, 1944, in Greensburg, the son of Charles & Mary Olive (Fultz) Powers. He has resided in Decatur, Shelby & Bartholomew Counties and had graduated from Jackson Township High School. He was a member of Fredonia Community Church and the Jimmy Swaggart Family Worship Center. Jack enjoyed woodworking, raising quail, pheasants and English Setters and he enjoyed his pets. He married Brenda J. Green on January 13, 1962, in Livingston, Tennessee and she survives. They had been married for 60 years and she said she would love him forever. Other survivors include his daughters, Lisa Shaw of Denver, Colorado, Gina (Chris) Bolt of Greenwood and Mariah (Tom) Flynn of Denver, Colorado; his son, Jeff (Buffy) Powers of Waldron; his sisters, Maude Michael of Westport, and Jessie Campbell Strain of West Virginia; his daughter-in-law, Michelle Powers of Shelbyville; his son-in-law, Brenden Alexander; his 17 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jack Powers, Jr.; his daughter, Michelle Alexander; his brothers, Harold, Gerald, Chuck, Ronnie, John Franklin, Jimmie Joe, and David Powers; his sisters, Lenora Kirtman, Doris Parson, and Mary Jayne. The funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, June 2, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Pastor Dennis Hirschauer officiating. Burial will follow at Union Presbyterian Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held on Thursday from Noon until time of service at 2:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to help the family with funeral expenses.
