Ralph A. Gault, 81, of Greensburg, passed away at 8:38 a.m. on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at the Willow Crossing Health Care Center in Columbus.  He was born on November 6, 1930 in Decatur County, the son of Glen A. and Helen C. (Pfeifer) Gault. Ralph was a farmer and lifelong resident of Decatur County. He also had served as a Decatur County Councilman for 12 years.  He was a member of the Mt. Aerie Baptist Church where he had served as a trustee, a member & Past Master of the Westport Masonic Lodge # 52 F. & A.M., a member of Decatur County Farm Bureau, and a board member of the Producers Marketing Association for several years. He graduated from Sandcreek High School in 1948 and enjoyed playing Euchre.  He married Lora Frances Hitchel on Jan. 18, 1951 at the Mt. Aerie Baptist Church in Letts.  She survives, along with his sons: Gary (Vivian) Gault of Greensburg, Greg (Becky) Gault of Greensburg, Charles (Melanie) Gault of West Lafayette and Ryan (Billie) Gault of Greensburg; his daughters, Rebecca (Phil) Croll of Aiken, South Carolina, Brenda Shannon of St. Paul, Pam (Terry) Sweasy of Columbus and Lora (Anthony) Wiggam of Westport; his sisters, Alice Grimes of Greensburg, Pauline Ball of Indianapolis, Eunice DeVoe of Fort Wayne, Mary (Robert) Laws of  Westport and Genevieve Wills of Carmel, 18 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles & Harold Gault and by one brother in infancy; his sister, Beulah Blauvelt and his grandson, Trevor Goldsmith. 

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 28, 2011 at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Bartlett officiating.  Burial will follow at the Westport Cemetery.  A time of visitation will be held on Sunday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. with a Masonic Memorial service at 7:30 p.m.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made through the funeral home to Hospice of South Central Indiana or the Parkinson’s disease foundation.
