Myrtle Pauline Grider

Myrtle Pauline Grider, 87, of Greensburg, passed away at 3:25 p.m. on Friday, September 30, 2011 at Hickory Creek Nursing Home in Greensburg.  She was born on August 15, 1924 in Russell County, Kentucky, the daughter of Lawrence and Cassie Ellen (Franklin) Kinnett.

Mrs. Grider was raised in Kentucky and moved to Indiana in 1950. She worked as a CNA at Heritage House Nursing Home for 18 years and had also worked at the Jessup Nursing Home. She enjoyed reading and gardening. 

She married James Royce Grider on February 1, 1941 in Russell County, Kentucky. He preceded her in death on May 16, 1982. 

She is survived by her daughters: Jeanette Simmonds and Anna Biddinger of Greensburg, Carol Trambly of Lincoln, Nebraska; her sons, James Grider of Columbia City, Indiana and Jeff Grider of Greensburg; 22 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Betty Giddings; sisters, Ovalene Freeman and Kathleen Kean; brother, Earl Kinnett; granddaughter, Sarah Bordon; great granddaughter, Katherine Cheyenne Everroad.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Rev. David Scaggs officiating. Burial will be at the Mt. Aerie Cemetery in Letts. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 12:00 Noon until the time of service at 2:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Hospice of South Central Indiana.
