Mary Margaret Nugent, 96, of Westport, passed away at 11:38 a.m. on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at the Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. She was born on November 15, 1914 in Decatur County, Indiana. She was the daughter of Joseph and May (Hadley) Beesley. She was a lifelong resident of Decatur County. She graduated from Jackson Township High School in 1933 and was a member of the Bear Creek Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, reading and cross word puzzles.
She married Fred F. Nugent on November 15, 1936 in Rushville, Indiana. He preceded her in death on January 19, 2002. Survivors include her daughter, Mary Lou (Donald) Stout of Cincinnati, Ohio; her sons, Joseph Clinton Nugent of Brookville, Indiana, Robert F. (Judy) Nugent, Ed Nugent, Larry M. Nugent and Thomas (Patti) Nugent, all of Westport; 18 Grandchildren and 18 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Amy Smith and Martha Agnew Lay; her brother, Myron Beesley and great grandson Cheavy E. Nugent.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home with Pastor Connie Barr officiating. Burial will follow at the Bear Creek Cemetery South of Alert. A time of visitation will be held from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday evening at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the donor’s choice.
