Warren K. Oliver, 92 of Westport passed away at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday, December
9, 2010 at Arbor Grove Village in Greensburg. Mr. Oliver was born on May 7,
1918 in Hartsville, Indiana. He was the son of Floyd F. and Ellie (Isgrigg)
Oliver. He had been a Decatur County resident for the majority of his life. He
was a farmer and had also worked at Bohn Aluminum, having retired in 1980 after
17 years of service. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic
Church at Millhousen, Eagles Lodge # 927, Veterans of Foreign War Post # 5584
and the American Legion Post #129 at Greensburg. Warren served in World War 2
with the Indiana Unit, Company B, 38th division “Cyclone” of the 152nd
Infantry. Warren was wounded while liberating the Philippines and was awarded a
purple heart. He and his brother Wayne served together in the south pacific
while another brother James served in Europe. He was first married to Evelyn (Wolter)
Kiefer on August 23, 1947 at St. Maurice, Indiana. His second marriage was to
Dorothy Stuehrenberg Eden on April 26, 1992 at Millhousen, Indiana. She
preceded him in death on March 17, 2005. Surviving are his sons, Ron Oliver of
Westport, Kenny (Lisa) Oliver of Letts and Dan Oliver of Columbus; his
daughters, Nancy (Chris) Tyler of Holton, Janet (Bernard) Hagerty of Greensburg
and Diane Hilligoss of Westport; his former wife & companion, Evelyn Kiefer of
Westport;
His step daughter, Linda (David) Mozingo of Westport, his step sons Mark
(Marsha) Eden and Anthony (Debbie) Eden both of Letts; his brothers Woodrow
Oliver of College Corner, Indiana and Clarence "Todd" Oliver of Columbus; 15
Grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren, 4 Step Grandchildren and 4 Step Great
Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy Oliver;
brothers, Jim and Wayne Oliver; sisters, Margaret Gilmore, Thelma Huffman and
Mildred Leak. A funeral mass will be conducted by Father John Geis at 10:00
a.m. on Monday, December 13, 2010 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church
in Millhousen. Burial will be at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church
Cemetery with military graveside rites. Friends may call on Sunday from 2:00
until 6:00 p.m. at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home with a rosary being prayed at
1:30 p.m.
