Ralph Emerson Spicer, 86, of Summerville, Georgia died Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at The Summit in Rome, Georgia.
Born January 7, 1923 in Deputy, Indiana, Mr. Spicer was the son of the late Samuel and Nettie B. Wolf Spicer. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served in World War II. He retired from Cummins Inc. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Summerville, Georgia.
He married Elizabeth Louise Wooten in Columbus, Indiana on September 20, 1969. She preceded him in death on January 20, 2007.
Survivors include sons Donald (Malinda) Spicer of North Vernon and Ray Spicer of Scipio; step-sons Larry (Sandra) Phelps of Columbus and Barry Phelps of Georgia, daughters Beverly (Raymond) Rascoe of Seymour and Kathi (Larry) Hendricks of Columbus; step-daughter Sharon (Russell) Holcomb of Georgia, sister Betty (Carl) Burchett of Deputy; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 16, 2009 at
6:00 p.m. at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Rev. David A. Scaggs
officiating.
