Barnabas James Taylor, 77, of Brookville, passed away at 6:16 p.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2020 at Franciscan Health Center in Indianapolis. He was born on January 23, 1943 in New Castle the son of Mark C. & Ruth (McVey) Taylor. He was raised in Harris City/Greensburg area and had lived the majority of his life in Decatur County. Barney graduated from Sandcreek High School in 1961 and was in the Army National Guard. He retired from Yellow Freight in 2018 after 46 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and doing yard work. His favorite place to visit was the ocean and the beach. He married Angela Hamer at Union Baptist Church on August 2, 1964 and she survives. Other survivors include his daughters, Kristi (Chris) Herbert of Greenfield and Cyndi Stewart of Harrodsburg, Kentucky; sons, Rod Taylor of Cincinnati, Ohio and Chad (Kim) Taylor of Hope; sister, Sara Biedess of Fort Wayne, Indiana; 10 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ann Taylor; brothers, Mark Taylor, John Taylor and Joe Taylor. Private graveside services will be held at the Union Baptist Cemetery with Dr. Robb L. Barlow officiating. Bass & Gasper Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to Riley Children's Foundation.
